No Step Is Too Small: Joshua Low on Building a Healthier Life

As part of the People Experience team at NCS, Joshua Low spends his days helping create an environment where employees can thrive. From wellness initiatives to company events, no two days are quite the same. One day might involve researching ways to encourage healthier lifestyles, while the next could see him behind a camera capturing moments across the business

For Joshua, workplace wellness goes far beyond exercise and nutrition. He believes true wellbeing is about balance and sustainability.

“If you’re stressed about being healthy, that’s not really wellness,” he says. “It’s about making small commitments that fit into your life and building consistency over time.”

That philosophy extends to his own routine. Rather than chasing perfection, Joshua focuses on habits that have the greatest impact. At the top of the list is sleep.

“Getting at least seven hours of sleep gives me the energy and motivation to exercise, eat better and improve myself throughout the day.”

When it comes to staying active despite a busy schedule, Joshua keeps things simple.

“I remind myself that I only need 20 minutes to an hour a day. Many of us can find that time if we’re honest about how we’re spending it.”

Joshua also played a key role in NCS’s collaboration with freshpod, including the popular “Build Your Own Bowl” campaign. The initiative brought employees together to create a meal designed by NCS, for NCS.

His favourite part?

“Trying the final bowl. I may not have cooked it myself, but seeing an idea come to life and getting to eat it was incredibly satisfying.”

The freshpod kiosk has since become a popular fixture at NCS Hub, offering employees convenient access to nutritious meals around the clock.

“The best part is that it’s always available and can fit any schedule, no matter how early or how late,” Joshua explains.

His own go-to order? A customised version of the NCS Miso Hungry bowl, swapping salmon for chicken and pairing it with chilli broccoli for a meal that’s flavourful, filling and packed with protein.

When asked for one piece of advice for colleagues looking to improve their wellbeing, Joshua’s answer perfectly captures his approach to health:

“No step is too small. Enough small steps create momentum to make bigger changes in your life.”

It’s a simple message, but one that reflects both Joshua’s personal wellness journey and the culture of wellbeing that NCS continues to build every day.
