Fueling More Than Performance: How Faith Ford Makes Healthy Eating Work in a Busy Life

For Faith Ford, a Nutrition & Dietetics student and student athlete, healthy eating isn't about perfection. It's about building habits that support performance, recovery, and everyday wellbeing.

Her passion for nutrition actually began through sport. As she trained and competed, she became fascinated by how food affected not only athletic performance but also energy, focus, and recovery.

"When I'm fueling myself well, I feel more focused in class, recover better after training, and perform at my best during races," she shares.

Studying nutrition has reinforced one important lesson: food is about much more than body composition.

"There's a common misconception that eating less automatically makes you a better athlete. I've learned that proper fueling is actually one of the biggest contributors to consistent performance and staying injury-free."

One myth she'd love to change is the fear around carbohydrates.

"Carbs are often demonised, but they're actually our body's preferred source of energy. They fuel training, support recovery, and keep us energised throughout the day."

Like many students, Faith balances lectures, training, competitions, and everyday life. Her secret to staying consistent is simple: plan ahead.

She enjoys meal prepping on weekends, carrying healthy snacks, and making nutritious choices as convenient as possible.

"Healthy eating doesn't have to be complicated. Small, consistent choices really do add up."

That same mindset is what first attracted her to freshpod after discovering it on Instagram.

"As someone who's always on the go, I love being able to grab a fresh, healthy bowl without sacrificing convenience."

One feature quickly became a favourite.

"The macro breakdown on the receipt is honestly one of the coolest parts. As a nutrition student and athlete, I genuinely geek out over that kind of data because it makes staying on top of my nutrition goals so much easier."

Her go-to freshpod bowl combines tandoori tofu, cajun salmon, roasted corn, steamed edamame, spicy miso mushrooms, roasted sweet potato, and honey ginger dressing. For Faith, a balanced meal always includes quality protein, vegetables, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats.

When asked what advice she'd give to others trying to eat healthier, her answer is refreshingly simple.

"Don't aim for perfection. Aim for consistency. One meal won't make or break your health journey. It's the small choices you make every day that have the biggest impact."

At freshpod, we believe healthy eating should fit into real life, not compete with it. Faith's story is a reminder that whether you're training for your next race, studying for exams, or simply navigating a busy schedule, lasting results are built one balanced meal at a time.
