Friends of freshpod: Shamit Gupta

Meet Shamit, a Year 3 Computer Engineering student at NUS.
Between lectures, coursework, group projects and everything else that comes with university life, Shamit knows how easy it can be for a good lunch to become an afterthought.

As a strict vegetarian, there’s an added challenge. It’s not simply about finding something vegetarian, but finding a meal that is satisfying, nutritious, protein rich and still something you genuinely look forward to eating.
That’s where freshpod has become a firm favourite.
“I never thought nutritious food could be this tasty. I could have it just for the taste! Definitely one of the best things I’ve tried in Singapore.”
In fact, Shamit says eating freshpod is one of the few times he’ll put his phone and other distractions aside and simply enjoy his meal. We’ll take that as quite the compliment!
His go-to is our vegetarian set with extra Tandoori Tofu and Dil & Caper dressing. It gives him something that can be surprisingly difficult to find in a convenient vegetarian lunch: 32g of protein, alongside plenty of fresh ingredients and, most importantly, a meal he really enjoys.
“I don’t recall the last time I had such a tasty salad which gave me 32 grams of protein at the same time!”
For Shamit, that combination of taste, nutrition and convenience is what makes freshpod work.
And there’s one place he would particularly like to see a freshpod kiosk next: NUS.
We can see why.
University campuses bring together so many different food needs in one place. Students rushing between lectures need something quick. Athletes need meals that can support their training. Vegetarians need better access to protein rich options. Health conscious students want greater visibility over what they’re eating. And sometimes, after a long day of lectures or studying, you simply want a fresh meal without another queue.
That’s exactly the kind of environment freshpod was built for: making fresh, customisable and nutritious food easier to access within the places people already spend their day.
A freshpod on campus could mean a proper meal between lectures, a protein rich lunch after training, a healthier option during a long study session, or simply an alternative when you want something fresh, fast and satisfying.
As Shamit puts it:
“Can’t wait to say, ‘Hey, let’s grab a freshpod for lunch’ to my friends soon!”
Thanks Shamit for sharing your story and for being a Friend of freshpod.
NUS, maybe it’s time?
