Chia Ming Tjong is a pharmacist at Singapore General Hospital whose responsibilities extend well beyond the counter.

A significant part of his role involves supporting patients who are working to quit smoking, guiding them to build confidence and adopt healthier habits over time. It is a lesser known aspect of hospital pharmacy, where pharmacists are also trained to support specialised clinics and help manage certain conditions in close collaboration with medical teams.
Working in a hospital environment has strongly influenced how Ming approaches his own health and wellbeing.
He believes in leading by example. But with unpredictable hours and high-pressure situations, finding the time to eat right can be the biggest hurdle.
Ming prioritises meals that help him stay full, focused and energised. Adequate fibre and protein are essential, and fortunately freshpod provides a convenient solution that makes nutritious eating straightforward without compromising on taste.
His preferred bowl is a high-protein combination with satay chicken and honey mustard-glazed beef meatloaf, alongside chilli-roasted broccoli, steamed edamame, and fresh cucumber, offering balance and sustained energy throughout the day.
‘Wholesome. Innovative. Delicious.’
To stay grounded during busy periods, Ming relies on simple habits that help him to 'reset' his focus, such as brief breathing exercises, light stretching, or a quick walk.
His practical advice to fellow hospital staff is clear and thoughtful. Take a 'micro-break' when you need one. Stepping outside for a short walk and some fresh air can make a meaningful difference.
We are proud to fuel Ming, someone who makes a powerful impact on the community, helping people build healthier lives through expert care, encouragement, and everyday practical support.
